War films are those movies which depicts the actual zeal and passion of the soldiers. There are many films which portrays different was like Vietnam War and civil war. The Hollywood in reality showcases the battlefields of the wars. So let us now take a look at top 10 best war movies.


10. The Red Badge of Courage (1951).
The film named as The Red Badge of Courage is a war film which was made in 1951 and direction was given by John Huston. The story of the movie was inspired by the novel which was written by Stephen Crane and also the name of the novel resembled the movie name. The camera work was taken by famous camera man named Harold Rosson with the music of Bronislau. This is a movie which depicts an American civil war. The actor Audie Murphy played a lead role in the movie. There were some other actors too who were in a supporting role like Andy devine, Royal Dano and Bill Mauldin. The story revolves around World War II.



9. Gettysburg  (1993)
This movie named Gettysburg portrays the stories novel named as The Killer Angels which is written by Michael Shaara. Michael Shaara is a writer who writes fictionist novel. 2. Paths of Glory (1957)
Path of Glory was released in 1957 and portrays the story of  World War I. The movie is an anti war movie which does not supports war. It is a master piece of art. The movie is taken by the novel writen by Jim Thompson who is a criminal. The person named as Kubrick not just took the movie as director but also as co-writer along with Calder Willingham the film achieved a great success. In 1992 the National Film Registry added this film to its library. Even though the film is said to be the best film given by Kubrick but it didn’t receive a single nomination for academy awards.



1. Apocalypse Now (1979)
This is the first film counted as the best war films. The scenes that the movie depicted were so good that it established a history in cinema. The movie showcased the actual need and passion of the wars held. The real army and it madness was portrayed in the movie.  The story is at the time of Vietnam War. Both the direction and production was done by Francis Ford Coppola.
